SAP Indirect & Digital Access

Using SAP software via third-party systems is known as indirect access or indirect usage.

SAP has recently provided an output, or document- based model to license this use, referred to as digital access. We’ll help identify any hidden non-compliance and resolve any issues before an audit.

SAP indirect licensing specialists

The details of your SAP contracts will often be unclear, meaning that you may well be unaware that your indirect or digital access usage may need to be licensed.

When your organization is audited, SAP will identify any third-party integrations as non-compliant. This can result in significant fees; it is not worth the risk.

We will identify and where possible mitigate risks before SAP bring them up. Alternatively, if you’ve already been audited, we can help to address and dismantle any of SAP’s indirect access claims, reducing any potential settlements.

Digital Access

SAP introduced digital access as an alternative licensing model to indirect access in 2018. The purpose was to provide customers with a more quantifiable approach to licensing indirect access.

Digital access refers to the creation of documents within the SAP system that are created externally. This typically involves documents generated by third-party systems and subsequently sent to SAP.

While many customers currently license this usage through indirect access, digital access can be more cost-effective and easier to measure. This enables SAP customers to maintain compliance more effectively. You may even be required to move to the digital access licensing model when migrating to S/4HANA or S/4HANA Cloud.

Our service evaluates whether digital access is the appropriate licensing model for your organization. We thoroughly assess both indirect access and digital access models, offering recommendations on the most commercially advantageous option for your organization. Alternatively, if you already utilize digital access, we can assist in accurately monitoring your usage.
